Denso Fuel Pump Installation    Page 3

Relocate the spacer, ring, and cap to the Denso pump.
Pull off the rubber base.
Carefully remove the clip which holds the strainer bag assembly in place. You will need to reuse this clip. A pair of side cutters worked well for this.
Relocate strainer bag to the new pump.
Re-shape the clip if needed, and attach it. A 5mm socket helps to push it on.
Cut off the connector which plugs into the old pump, and solder the bare wires to the new pump. The blue wire is positive and the black wire is negative.
Trim the rubber base so that it fits on the new pump. The strainer bag on the Denso will be at a slightly different angle compared to stock.
Put everything back together as shown. The blue (+) wire will be somewhat close to the pump. It is important that this wire does not rub against the pump housing, wearing the insulation to cause a short. If this is an issue, you can cut the connector to allow for more clearance on this wire.

Lower the new pump into the tank. Since the strainer bag is at an angle, it will not fit as well, so you may need to apply some force to push it down. Re-tighten the nuts on the top plate, and reinstall the cover plate and rear seat. You are done.
