Computer Gets Turbocharged - For Real

"Turbocharge your computer!"
The PC industry has abused this cliche for decades to refer to performance upgrades.
This is the first time it's ever been done for real.

How many times have you heard the phrase, "Turbocharge your PC"? We don't talk about overclocking cars, so why are the marketing types "turbocharging" everything from PCs to tax software? This buzzword is tired and overused, yet every PC magazine is loaded with references to turbocharged performance. Advertisements and articles continually use this worn-out concept as though it were something clever and new.

Mark Purney, president of Raktron, Inc., decided to point out how ridiculous the concept is by integrating a real turbocharger into a personal computer. And what would a true turbocharged computer be without hot rod flames, working headlights, and a custom license plate?

The T-25 turbo (from a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse) blows cool air into the front of the case. It's more aesthetic than functional, but it does work. Most importantly, it's over-the-top ridiculous, which is exactly what it was designed to be.
